Why the Master of Education Degree?

Teaching has become a very complex endeavor over the past few years whether you are a trainer for a corporation, a public or private school teacher or you have your own training oriented business. Teaching is no longer a local affair oriented upon the needs of the local community; it is rapidly developing a global orientation.

To better aid teachers and trainers to compete in this new environment the School of Education has designed the Master of Education (M.Ed.) to blend the latest theories of teaching and learning with experiential hands-on learning in the different areas of specialization. This approach has led to a number of different curricular offerings.

These include:

Adult Learning Certificate (ALC), a 15 hour program specifically oriented to teachers of adults. All hours count towards an M.Ed.

The following endorsements are for those already holding a teaching license. All hours count towards an M.Ed.

English as a Second Language Endorsement (ESL)
Distance Learning Endorsement (DLE)
Reading Endorsement (RDG)
Advanced Reading (RDGA)
Special Education (SPED)

October 3rd, 2008 - First Priority Application for Spring
October 20th, 2008 - Spring Registration Begins
November 21st, 2008 - Final Application Date for Spring
December 19th, 2008 - Registration Deadline for Spring
January 30th, 2009 - Priority Application Date for Summer
April 3rd, 2009 - Final Application Date for Summer
April 24th, 2009 - Registration Deadline for Summer
May 29th, 2009 - Priority Application Date for Fall
