Human Performance and Wellness
Human Performance and Wellness courses provide unique opportunities to challenge and maximize the potential of the human mind, body, and spirit. As expected, there are traditional activity courses that benefit from their home in the new Dolores Doré Eccles Health, Wellness and Athletic Center. As desired, there are numerous classes that venture outdoors and take advantage of world-class recreational opportunities minutes from campus. In general, the curriculum emphasizes experiential learning and optimal living through physical fitness, movement education, lifetime sports, outdoor recreation, and the promotion of holistic well-being. Students should be aware that many Special Topics courses are offered each semester; look for Avalanche Awareness, Outdoor Leadership, Scuba, Advanced Strength Training, Indoor Climbing, and Providing Personal Training.

"Westminster's Human Performance and Wellness classes are designed to meet a variety of needs. We know that some students are simply looking for structure and expert assistance in jumpstarting a personal fitness regimen. Others may need to build their own expertise in order to gain certification for employment as a Group Exercise instructor. We even cater to the outdoor enthusiast that desires to develop their skiing and avalanche awareness skills.
Do not make the mistake, however, of thinking that these and future courses are a source of easy credit. Both 'academic' and 'activity' components are part of every class, often challenging both mind and body."
